About Anyan

Four energies. Infinite versions of you.

Anyan is conversational development. It helps you prepare for the conversations that matter and make sense of them afterwards, with Yan as your companion between them. Teams use it to keep development going after the workshop, and coaches use it so their work continues between sessions.

Some conversations just work. Others don't. Yan helps you see why — and what to do differently next time.

Most of us spend years wondering why we click with some people and not others. Yan puts words to something you already sensed.

When something at work or at home isn't quite right, it helps to talk it through with someone who actually knows you. That's what Yan is.

A conversation, not a personality quiz — one that gets more useful the more you use it.

Four energies. All yours from the start.

How it works

How the conversation works

A conversation, not a questionnaire.

Before a difficult conversation, a job interview, or just a week that feels harder than usual...

Yan asks you about real situations — things you've actually done, not hypothetical preferences. It's more like talking to someone curious about you than filling in a form.

Your reach — and it actually fits.

You see yourself reflected back in a way no quiz has ever quite managed...

Four energies. Your own specific combination. Observations that feel like someone finally put words to something you already knew about yourself.

A companion who remembers.

Sunday evening, Monday morning, or the moment right after something didn't go the way you meant...

Every day, whatever's on your mind — a difficult conversation coming up, something that didn't go the way you meant — Yan helps you think it through and reach a little further.

From early users

What trial users are telling us

Early users keep telling us the same things — even when they don't put it formally. That it reads like their own words, not someone else's language. That it feels like a conversation, not a test. That it doesn't box them into one label — it reflects the whole range of ways they actually communicate from one day to the next. And that, unlike the tools they've tried before, it isn't finished the moment they get it: it stays with them, and grows as they do.

This feels so right. I've never felt like I'm just a 'Blue', but I've been labeled as that for 4 years!

Why I built it

Thirty years of reaching, then a better way to see it

After thirty years helping organisations change, I kept watching good people be handed a label and filed. I built Anyan so nobody has to be. Your reach asks again, moves when you move, and belongs to you.

Why your reach is different

Three Welsh words underneath it all

You'll never need these to use Anyan. Here's what they mean anyway.

Anian (AN-yan) — nature, temperament and power, in one word. Nature: what you're made of. Temperament: the shape that takes. Power: what you bring to the people around you. English needs three words for it. Welsh needs one. You were born with all four energies, and what differs from person to person is which one you reach for first. The ones you reach for less never went anywhere. They're still yours.

Cynefin (kuh-NEV-in) — the ground you choose to spend your time on. A hill farmer uses it for the patch of mountain a flock knows as its own: the paths they've worn, the ground they head back to. You've done the same across your four energies. Some ground you know without thinking. Some you've barely walked. Your reach is a picture of where you spend your time, and it moves as you go further.

Awen (AH-wen) — the breath between us. What appears between two people when a conversation is working, and never in either person alone. It's why Anyan asks you questions instead of handing you a form. It's also what a team has between it, which was never the sum of everyone's reach.

Wherever you go next, the ground you've covered goes with you.
